Only 10 2000p Experimental Rinse Anti Tarnishing Agent Sacagawea dollar coins are known. The small dollars web site has a 2001p and a 2000p. Cointalk covers a 2000p experimental rinse Sacagawea by segs. The Small dollars (site listed at bottom) has a photo of a 2000p Sacagawea Experimental rinse Coin that is very similar if not exactly the same as this coin and a photo of a more chocolate colored Expermental Rinse Sacagawea on their web site. I have also found some slabbed 2001p Experimental Rinse Sagcagaweas that are very similar in color, finish and description if not exactly the same as this coin. This Sacagawea coin could be on a experimental metal alloy planchet or may have had an Experimental Anti-tarnishing Agent applied to the surface of the metal either before the planchets were cut or to the planchets after being cut or mabey both ways were tested, it has a slight green brown copper color, with a matte like tarnished patina and very few bag marks if any. The rim is slightly higher around part of the edge. The mint admits conducting engineering and metallurgical tests but cites trade secrets and mint security for not releasing the chemical make-up of the alloys or anti tarnishing chemicals tested and used or rejected by the mint. The Martha Washington test Design Dollar was used to test different alloys and anti-tarnishing agents to aid in the final manufacture of the Sacagawea Dollar. This coin may have missed the 1st anti-tarnishing chemical in the process and got just the 2nd chemical which gave it this more rare surface than the fully processed experimental rinse coin. The metal formation that looks very similar to a flattened D is quite interresting, and is at the location that a D on a quarter would be located. Some of the Sacagaweas have been discovered with the front surface of a quarter stamped in to the coin. They are called Mule coins.
