Opera Web Browser Releases New Update With Integrated Crypto Wallet

The recognized and major web browser Opera has decided to launch a new browser that will have a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The information was released by Cointelegraph a few hours ago. This will help users have a more crypto-friendly web-browser.

The new web browser is called Opera 60 and it will allow users to use an embedded cryptocurrency wallet. Moreover, Opera 60 will let users interact with the blockchain-based internet, a service that is known as Web 3. Users’ privacy will also be improved with a virtual private network (VPN) feature to enhance users’ privacy while surfing the web.

The Opera Wallet will be synchronized with the Opera browser’s wallet that users could have in their smartphones. That means that the wallet keys will never be leaving users’ devices. This provides an increased level of security for the crypto wallet.

The press release reads as follows:

“In practice, whenever they need to identify themselves to a Web 3 website or sign a transaction on the blockchain, users get a notification on their smartphone. They can confirm it in the same way they unlock their system, using, for example, facial recognition or their fingerprint.”

The VPN also protects users’ privacy with an encrypted tunnel that hides users’ data from other parties. It also secures the geographical location in which users operate. As Krystian Kolondra, the executive vice president of Opera explains, distributed ledger technology (DLT) brings control back to the people.

This is not the first time that Opera offers a virtual currency wallet for users. In 2018, Opera released a built-in crypto wallet for Android browsers. The company wanted to accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation to actual payments.

Opera has also been protecting users from crypto jacking attacks. In January 2018, the firm announced that they’ve implemented ant-cryptocurrency mining feature. When a user activates the ad blocker on Opera Mini and Opera for Android, the anti-crypto mining feature will be enabled.

Brave is another web browser that blocks ads and also website trackers. At the same time, Brave works with the Basic Attention Token (BAT) virtual currency. Users that enable ads will receive rewards for the time they use to watch and interact with these ads. The Brave web browser has already been selected as the default browser on the Exodus smartphone created by HTC.
