Insane UN Study Claims Siri & Alexa Need a #MeToo Moment

Insane un study claims siri & alexa need a #metoo moment

By CCN: In what only be described as political correctness gone insane, the United Nations issued a ridiculous report that claims Siri and Alexa are victims of sexual harassment and should launch their own #MeToo crusade.

Alexa #MeToo Report Is PC Culture Gone Mad

The 145-page report, issued by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said in part:

“Siri’s ‘female’ obsequiousness – and the servility expressed by so many other digital assistants projected as young women – provides a powerful illustration of gender biases coded into technology products, pervasive in the technology sector and apparent in digital skills education.”

The report, which consists of two “think pieces”:

“…examines how AI voice assistants projected as young women perpetuate harmful gender biases. It offers recommendations to ensure that the continued proliferation of digital assistants does not widen gender divides.”

UNESCO Scolds Gender Stereotyping While Hating Israel

To say that these qualify as anything that a normal person would spend time thinking about is an overstatement. The UN continues to squander the $3.3 billion the United States wastes on this useless, anti-Israel “peace organization.”

UNESCO is the same organization that has passed more than 70 separate resolutions condemning Israel, as opposed to only two condemning all other countries combined. That explains why Israel and the US withdrew from UNESCO in 2017.

UN & UNESCO: Global Busybodies

By publishing a report on gender bias in AI technology, UNESCO only adds fuel to the fire that it is a pointless organization of busybodies. Naturally, UNESCO blames American culture, saying:

“In the United States, the percentage of female computer and information science majors has dropped steadily over the past 30 years and today stands at just 18 percent down from 37 per hundred in the mid-1980s.”

The inference is, of course, that America is misogynist and needs a complete #MeToo overhaul.

Nowhere does UNESCO address the fact that men simply outnumber women when it comes to interest in technology and programming jobs. In a world where the junk science of “gender identity” chips away at objective reality, it isn’t surprising that UNESCO and the UN would default to the idea that interest in technology should somehow be equal.

Men are different from women, and that’s considered heresy at places like the UN and UNESCO.

Stupid Study Yields Stupid Recommendations

The study offers up the following recommendations, presumably to make sure we are all in lock-step with the fascist politically-correct dogma of world government:

  1. Stop making digital assistants female by default
  2. Discourage gender-based insults and “abusive language”
  3. Develop advanced technical skills of women and girls so they can get in the game.

What’s particularly insidious about the UN and UNESCO report is that they actually want to control how people talk to robots, as if these machines somehow have feelings.

UNESCO’s mania is such that it believes that talking to machines somehow influences how we speak to real people.

Memo to UNESCO: Neither Siri nor Alexa needs a #MeToo moment. #MeToo is for humans only.

Hello! Siri & Alexa Are Robots, Not Humans!

As if this farce weren’t laughable enough, take a gander at this chart that Quartz.com published. It shows how various AI programs respond to “verbal sexual harassment”:

These are robots! One cannot verbally sexually harass robots!

Despite how easy it is to mock the UN and UNESCO for this devastatingly simple-minded “think piece,” there is a deadly serious message underlying it.

The United Nations has only one real purpose, to deliver humanitarian aid and peacekeeping troops during global catastrophes. Spending money on this nonsense only serves the dangerous and misguided policy of political correctness.

Airbitz New Release Lets Users Choose Their Node Allegiances

bitcoin wallet provider and security platform Airbitz has released an update allowing users to choose which nodes they connect to.

Airbitz: Choice Is Part Of ‘bitcoin Ethos’

In a post Monday, the company cited “choice” as part of the “bitcoin ethos” as motivation for letting wallet holders decide the nodes they want to relay transactions with.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

“We realize that part of the bitcoin ethos is choice, and while consensus eventually needs to be met, the process by which we get there involves a vote on how to move the protocol forward,” the post reads.

Airbitz hopes to enable users to exercise their vote and support their protocol implementation of choice.

Scaling-Heavy But Still Neutral?

The move appears heavily tied to the ongoing bitcoin scaling debate. Airbitz users can now select whether to use nodes supporting a specific solution, such as bitcoin Core, bitcoin Unlimited or bitcoin Classic.

The wallet provider has traditionally taken a neutral stance towards any one solution, criticizing those taking sides at the expense of progress.

Airbitz

“At Airbitz, we do not take a stance on preferring one implementation of bitcoin over another,” a previous blog post from March read.

Instead, we believe the industry needs both bigger blocks, like bitcoin Unlimited proposes, and scaling solutions, such as Segregated Witness from bitcoin Core.

It added at the time that a hard fork of the bitcoin network “is both unlikely to happen, and unlikely to result in the continued existence of the weaker chain.”

No Full User Control

The latest incarnation of the wallet meanwhile privileges connection quality over customer preferences.

6 Reasons to Run a Bitcoin Full Node

“The Airbitz architecture by default connects to various Electrum based public bitcoin nodes to query and send transactions to the bitcoin network,” Monday’s post continues.

Part of that architecture, which is inherent to other mobile, light-client SPV wallets, is to choose nodes that follow the longest chain.

“You can enter as many servers as you wish, but note that Airbitz will only connect to 4 nodes and will chose those that provide the best network connectivity.

The release mimics that of bitcoin Core’s latest update, which facilitates an opt-in system whereby non-SegWit supporting miners can still be accepted.

Airbitz has also taken an increasing interest in revitalized DAOs in recent months, having in November partnered with Wings.ai to increase its Blockchain app security portfolio.
