FoodInsights is a Netherlands based blockchain business founded by Wilbert Hilkens and Corne van Aaken. Wilbert has ten years of experience in the international food and agriculture sector and ten years of experience as a banker in these sectors and knows the ag supply chain business inside-out. This unique domain experience has been infused into their Foodinsights platform to customise blockchain solutions for customer supply chain business models.
Corne brings the ICT strength and has several decades of managing VAA ICT Consultancy, a software supplier with extensive experience developing software to connect companies in the food and agriculture sectors.

All fresh food supply chains have become increasingly complex in recent decades. Visualizing the production process helps to clarify these chains and greater transparency helps to reveal the care with which the products are made. When customers can see where their products come from, they have more confidence in them. Given that the products are food-based, this can make all the difference.
When FoodInsights founder, Wilbert Hilkens, was discussing and our blockchain solution for seafood supply chain sustainability, he immediately saw the connection with his ‘terrestrial’ supply chains. In fact, there are few differences in general, except that seafood chains are even more complex, with over 12,000 species involved, and also highly perishable. However, he did see the huge benefit in using tokens to incentivise data capture through a crypto-mobile exchange mechanism, and we envisage close collaboration on future projects on dry land. Indeed, some large well known supermarket chains who we are in partnership with are very interested in our Fishcoin blockchain solution being applied for all their goods, even non-food items. It is Fishcoin’s decentralised and interoperable ecosystem approach that enables this broader application.
