Released in May of 2013, YACoin (Symbol: YAC) was the first to introduce the N parameter of Scrypt and is robust, secure and reliable open source software run by a community of volunteers. Anybody is welcome to add to YACoin, whether by contributing code, or if that’s not your thing, translations, how-to’s or anything else you can think of to benefit YAC. YACoin is based on a PoW algorithm SHA-3 KECCAK to further distance itself from other coin creation schemes. The coin utilizes Proof of Stake to protect itself from pure PoW attacks. Proof of Stake is an improved version of Peercoin’s implementation. The currency counts PoS blocks with equal weight as PoW blocks.
