We'll hear from three pannelists who will discuss technologies and companies working on applying blockchain technology to the future of renewable energy. Panelists include: Amanda Li – Head of Product at Banyan Infrastructure. Amanda had firsthand inefficiencies in distributed infrastructure deployment as a prior infrastructure investor. She is excited to improve transparency and automation tools for financiers, developers, and the ecosystem. Prior to Banyan, Amanda has been at Generate Capital, McKinsey & Co., and served product and engineering roles in technology and renewables startups across Canada, China, and the U.S. Amanda holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor's of Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Yang (Arthur) Hu – Chief Product Officer of USolar. USolar transfers the value from excess energy to crypto assets, and improve project ROI for the renewable energy investors. He is also the co-founder and co-president of Silicon Valley China-US Energy Association, a U.S. non-profit to connect China and US in the energy domain. Dr. Hu had been working as a consultant for PG&E and other CA IOUs for the past 6 yrs, and he received his doctor degree in building performance and diagnostics from Carnegie Mellon University. Dick Kim – Blockchain product manager at PG&E. He is focused on achieving deeper technical understanding of various blockchain protocols and their applications to energy use cases. Before this role, Dick worked in various enterprise teams ranging from process improvement and load forecasting to rate design and data analytics. Dick holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from West Point, an MBA from UCLA Anderson, and a homegrown love of all things blockchain from multiple mining rig builds and master node configurations over the past year. Buck Endemann (Moderator) – Partner at K&L Gates. Buck Endemann provides comprehensive counseling on energy, energy storage, infrastructure and remediation projects. He regularly advises clients on air, land use, species protection, water and waste compliance issues, and represents clients in related litigation and enforcement proceedings. Buck also co-leads the firm’s BioEnergy Initiative and, along with project development, helps clients navigate the federal Renewable Fuel Standard and California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard. He co-author’s the K&L Gates Blockchain Energizer, a biweekly newsletter summarizing developments at the intersection of energy and blockchain technology, and is the editor of the firm’s Energy Storage Handbook.
