Talao are excited to announce that the Talao Protocol is now live on the mainnet.
This first version of the Talao Protocol has been successfully deployed on the mainnet following 3 months of testing on testnet. The main goal of this release is to have the smart contracts and the core protocol battle tested on the mainnet and to onboard the first freelancers who will create their first fully decentralized professional resume.
As recognized by our beta-testers, this is the first fully decentralized app (Dapp) everyone can see and use. Decentralization is fast becoming a real force in the digital world, and the Talao team is proud to be pioneers in this space. With this release, freelancers now have the first fully decentralized professional workspace on a public and posses full ownership and control of their data. Their professional experiences will be certified on the . This is enabling freelancers to differentiate themselves in the market with certified experiences.
Which features are included in this first mainnet release?
This first release on mainnet deploys the five main components of the protocol:
- Workspaces: A workspace contains data. Data may include for example, a contract template for a company, a professional certificate or the agenda for a freelancer, etc. There is no limit to the type and quantity of data. A workspace is an identity within the meaning of the , ie it can carry claims issued by trusted third parties with the ERC 725/735 standard. This allows entrusting a third party with the realization of a KYC on a freelancer profile. For a freelancer, a workspace is linked to the FreeDApp application.
- Documents: Documents are a data structure in the workspace smart contract. For cost reasons we a link on Ethereum blockchain and the more complex structure is designed on IPFS. The protocol is designed to enable a move from IPFS toward another decentralized network storage. Moreover sensitive data can be encrypted with a private RSA key.
- Certificates: Talao introduces two kind of certification in its protocol. The first one is dedicated to experiences certification. The request comes from the freelancer, the customer signs it on blockchain and the certificate is directly integrated into the freelancer workspace who can accept or remove it. The second kind of certificate is what we call a “claim”, and is dedicated to certification of courses, licences, legal or personal information, etc…They will be issued by Talao partners.
- Partnerships: A Partnership is a relationship between 2 workspaces. If a freelancer is part of the freelancer community of a company, then there is a partnership between their workspaces. A partnership is established with the agreement of both parties. A freelancer can propose to join a community but the company must accept it for the partnership to be established. A partnership allows a reciprocal exchange of all the data, including encrypted data.
- Services: Services are special workspace functions which have a price and which are proposed by some users called “Service Providers” to workspaces which are in partnership with them. A service is 100% on-chain otherwise it has no added value and it is better to manage it off-chain with a paper contract and an invoice. An example is the service proposed by to offer companies on-chain mailing to its own Talent base (). Services can be added with the stream on any workspace. Any service is a smart contract triggered by a transaction on the Talao token smart contract with a certain amount of TALAO tokens (service price), the service smart contract address and some additional data for the service.
What are the main benefits of the Talao protocol for both companies and freelancers?
The protocol has strong benefits for both parties.
1/ For a company:
- Develop their employer brand, differentiate themselves from their competitors and improve their ability to attract new talent by enhancing the contributor experience.
- Offer a new and unique value proposition to talent :
- The company can offer to open a FreeDApp for talent it wants to attract or retain (note this does not give the company ownership of the individual’s professional data)
- The company can, on various occasions, issue certificates to enrich the professional reputation of talent members.
- Benefit from private access to the professional data of the talent member with whom it is in contact and integrate this data with its internal management tools (HRIS, VMS, etc.), via connectors developed on the FreeDApp. For companies, the main benefit is to access data that is always up to date, such as the availability of a freelancer.
- Decrease recruitment or referral cycles related to the verification of credentials and limit the risk of selection errors related to incorrect or invalid information on CVs by directly accessing the certified data of candidate FreeDApp talent. Credentials refer to diplomas, expertise certificates, assessments, references, work certificates, publications, scores, legal documents, certificates, conference speaker certificates, and other credential related documents.
- Improve internal talent offboarding: maintain links with former employees who leave the company to work as an independent.
For a freelancer:
- Regain possession of their professional reputation and data, their main asset in the labour market. They can free themselves from platforms and intermediaries.
- Save time by having to only manage their professional data in one place (and not on each platform) and be empowered to choose what data to share and with which company.
- Display reliable data and experiences, and thus increase their value in the market by differentiating themselves from falsified profiles and experiences. It is possible to consider for the talent member certification of past experiences, for the purpose of providing a reference for example.
Next steps
Now that the Talao protocol is fully operational on Mainnet, the protocol team is focused on 3 key areas:
- Integration of the protocol in private marketplaces already live,
- Polishing the user experience, especially on mobile devices,
- Deploying new features, including the ability to integrate into the decentralized workspace the business related information, for example, availability of freelancers.
Where can I get my own fully decentralized workspace?
You just need to connect to and follow the process. You will need to acquire TALAO to make your dApp live, as the TALAO is the key to the smart contracts enabling a fully talent owned and decentralized workspace. Remember that the Talao Protocol is fully decentralized. Once your workspace in live on mainnet, you own it 100% together with your TALAO .
