Britain’s Royal Mint has come in for a right royal pasting following the unveiling of a commemorative coin celebrating the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Production of the coin has yet to begin, and there are orders already, but how many will be struck is unknown. What is striking is that while William’s profile actually does look like a photo of the couple, the Middleton likeness does her no favours, putting on a few pounds – “Weighty Katie” indeed.
The man who designed Charles and Diana’s similar coin seems to agree.
