how old of stuff are you interested in? I think I’ve a couple ancient laptops(95/xp/me) I could strip down and send you.
I’ve also a couple pieces of ram as well.
I guess I should have clarified, probably nothing that old because I’m trying to fix laptops from oh, 2008-2014 range. I had an ancient 2002 Dell Inspiron 2600 that I stripped down and I literally couldn’t use a single part. I ended up just popping open the dead hard drive to play with the innards. It had a PATA hard drive, the ram was sooo ancient that it was unusable (128MB either in each stick or 56MB each. I didn’t bother looking too hard into it) and a good old floppy disk drive. I guess what I’d be looking for would be new enough laptop parts that I could use them in modern laptops. SATA hard drives, small SATA SSDs or mSATA SSDs DDR3 RAM, that kind of stuff. I’m very new to this so I don’t exactly know for sure what I’m looking for, but probably nothing that ancient.
I’ve probably got a bit of what you need. Not sure what all, will have to look around and see what I got. Don’t forget when a hard drive fails, at least take it apart and get the magnets out of it. Neodymium magnets are worth a couple bucks each. Not to mention that they’re nice to have! Also, I am searching for some cheap laptop batteries if any of you have any laying around. Working on a pack for a camper I got. Maybe we can work on a trade if you get some batteries?
Haha I use all the parts I can to make little nifty things around my desk. The magnets come in handy for sorting screws. I do have a laptop battery from that old Dell 2600 I was talking about, I just don’t know if it can hold a charge or if you need a weird square laptop battery from 2002 hahaha. If you do I’ll give it to you for the cost of shipping (which knowing Canada Post it will probably be atrocious).
Let me know if you know of a way for me to test the charge as I don’t have the charger and don’t have the slightest clue how else to figure it out. I also stole the little rubber foot off of it. It was a hair too big for an acer laptop I had that was missing two feet but a little snip here and there and you can’t tell the difference! I’m almost 100% certain you don’t care about the little rubber foot though.
I have a very large amount of laptops, parts, and such at the shop. I am in the Charlotte NC area though.
Well if you have anything that you’re looking to get rid of for a small donation let me know. (AKA: If you have 16GB DDR4 RAM Modules I can’t afford them unless you’ll take a nice shiny bit-cent )
