Join us to learn how Raiden Team is enabling a new instant payments system via lighting networks in Ethereum and you will get, from its same creators, all the knowledge to install your own node and experiment with it.During this 5 hours workshop you will learn from the scratch about Raiden technology and to use and interact with it in a really interactive and learn-by-doing workshop ending. Workshop agenda (2h morning + 3h afternoon) Introduction to Raiden: Raiden, HTLCs and payment channels Installing Raiden: Raiden installation and node setting up Transferring tokens: Token exchange within the group of participants using Raiden Interactive coding session: Together we will code a small program that interacts with the API Open questions and discussion: Together we discuss specific ideas, use cases and general questions chilling with some beers! 😀 Recommendations: A minimum knowledge of Ethereum and programming is recommended, furthermore, We recommend you to assist the day before our Devcentralised meetup in which you can discover a little bit more about Raiden. Trainers: Jacob Stenum Czepluch Jacob has been part of the Raiden Network project since its beginning. Before he started working with brainbot and Raiden, he did an internship with the Ethereum Foundation where he worked on the Python client. Jacob has also done several Ethereum and Solidity focused workshops for enterprise companies, but also as part of his work for the Copenhagen Ethereum Meetup group, which he started more than 3 years ago. Dominik Schmid Dominik is part of the Raiden Network since 2 month. He is working with Blockchains and their Use Cases since two years and is experienced in facilitating workshops that involved blockchains and their business applications. Don't miss the opportunity to learn directly from them! ________ *More info about Raiden: The Raiden Network is an off-chain scaling solution for performing ERC20-compliant token transfers on the Ethereum blockchain. It is Ethereum's version of bitcoin's Lightning Network, enabling near-instant, low-fee, scalable, and privacy-preserving payments. The Raiden Network allows secure transfers of tokens between participants without the need for global consensus. This is achieved using digitally signed and hash-locked transfers, called balance proofs, fully collateralized by previously setup on-chain deposits. This concept, illustrated in figure 1, is known as payment channel technology. Payment channels allow for practically unlimited, bidirectional transfers between two participants, as long as the net sum of their transfers does not exceed the deposited tokens. These transfers can be performed instantaneously and without any involvement of the actual blockchain itself, except for an initial one-time on-chain creation and an eventual closing of the channel.
