NuShares are units held by individuals who hope to help support and maintain the Nu system. Owning NuShares is not required to utilize NuBits. Instead, NuShares are intended to be a source of network equity for developers, entrepreneurs, and speculators. NuShare holders can earn system revenues in the form of Peercoin dividends paid out by a custodian. NuShare holders can cast votes for actions that positively impact the Nu network. These actions contribute to adjust the supply and demand for NuBits in order to keep them always to remain at a long-term $1.00 US value. As of August 2015 there are about 835,000,000 NSR and this supply will rise at a rate of approximately 2% per year.
