CNBC dẫn lời Vitalik Buterin, người sáng lập Ethereum, cảnh báo người dùng "đừng bỏ số tiền vượt khả năng chịu lỗ của mình" để đầu tư vào tiền mã hóa.
Cụ thể, trên trang Twitter của mình, Vitalik Buterin đã nhắc nhở nhà đầu tư: "Tiền mã hóa vẫn là một loại tài sản rất mới, có biến động cực mạnh và luôn có rủi ro trở nên gần như mất giá bất kỳ lúc nào. Và nhà đầu tư đừng nên bỏ ra số tiền vượt khả năng chịu lỗ của mình".

Vào tháng 12 năm ngoái, người tạo ra Ethereum đã từng đưa ra bình luận so sánh việc đầu tư một cách mù quáng vào tiền mã hóa với việc bỏ ra một số tiền kỷ lục để mua bức tranh đắt nhất thế giới Đấng cứu thê (Salvator Mundi) của danh họa Leonardo Da Vinci.
Ngoài ra, ông cũng lưu ý nhà đầu tư về việc bị giả mạo để lừa đảo tiền kỹ thuật số trên mạng xã hội. Theo đó, người dùng thường được đề nghị gửi một lượng tiền kỹ thuật số đổi lấy một lượng lớn hơn.
