Hello, nice to see you all. This is Sobly and I am here to talk about blockchain news in Korea. Korea is the third biggest market for cryptocurrencies but there is no one conveying Korea’s news to the world, so here I am. Here is the most recent news that you REALLY should know about.

Kakao had a press conference on 27th of March and co-CEOs 조수용(SuYong Jo) and 여민수(MinSu Yeo) addressed their stance on ICO and plans for the future. Kakaotalk cleared the rumor saying that they have NO plans to do ICOs, but they will be focused on blockchain platform more.
Kakao 3.0 is all about AI and Blockchain technology. Their first priority is making a blockchain platform targeting Japan, China, Southeast Asia and lastly Europe. Kakao’s first generation was to move forward to mobile world and second generation was to expand to other businesses and now will be the time to go global through enhancing the synergy of services of game, shopping and purchasing.
Kakao’s third generation, Kakao 3.0 will be developed based on its own blockchain platform until this year. For this blockchain platform, they recently established a subsidiary called ‘Ground X’ in Japan. Ground X is to research and invest in blockchain technology without doing an ICO.
Their CEOs said: “Our goal is making a platform that everybody can use world-widely. There are platforms like Ethereum and EOS, but it isn’t a thing that can process a lot of data with fast speed and this is the problem we are going to deal with. This is what we can offer for the society. This open ecosystem is so meaningful to us that we already went through a lot so that many developing engineers can work on our platforms and It will be launched soon!”
This news is really important in Korea since Kakaotalk is an app literally almost everybody uses. So, this is a huge deal that a lot of people actually bought Kakao tokens which means it was all frauds. A lot of people believed that they were going to do an ICO and some people still believe it. So be aware of this because clearly, it’s not true.
