John McAfee may be extradited like Julian Assange, if he ousts Satoshi Nakamoto

John McAfee may be in trouble. The anti-virus software pioneer’s plans to reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto to the world were thwarted to avoid extradition to the United States.

Craig Wright’s string of lawsuits may have played a part in pushing McAfee to reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. McAfee, after speaking to Bloomberg on April 24, 2019, said that he would reveal the identity “within a week.” A few hours later however, McAfee posted a tweet saying that he would delay the revelation, as his extradition lawyer advised against revealing the identity.

The letter from McAfee’s lawyer stated,

“… I must strongly advise against you revealing the identity of the above captioned [Satoshi Nakamoto]… There are number of ramifications which could include a possible lawsuit and other legal actions against yourself and will undoubtedly have you drawn to defend yourself on many fronts.”

McAfee tweeted about the same stating,

“The US extradition request to the Bahamas is imminent. I met with Mario Gray, my extradition lawyer, and it is now clear (read his letter below) that releasing the identity of Satoshi at this time could influence the trial and risk my extradition. I cannot risk that. I’ll wait.”

McAfee has been in a jam involving the U.S. extradition authorities since he is a person of interest with respect to a murder in Belize. Additionally, McAfee is also being investigated by the NSA for “tax offences,” according to one of his tweets.

The tweet from McAfee’s lawyer was met with criticism as some users pointed out that the lawyer had used his “Hotmail” account, questioning its timeline. Others claimed the same in reference to the letterhead.
