At Origin, our mission is to enable true peer-to-peer commerce. We’re building a platform for creating decentralized marketplaces that allow buyers and sellers to find each other without any middlemen. Today, we’re excited to finally offer our community the chance to become holders alongside our core team and investors. We are thrilled to announce the launch of Origin Rewards. You can now earn Origin (OGN) just by using our and sharing Origin with your friends. In the initial April 2019 campaign, you can earn up to 1,000 Origin (OGN) and we intend to offer new opportunities to earn Origin each month.
Historically, it was early adopters that first created value on today’s largest platforms, whether it was Facebook’s initial college users, eBay’s first power sellers, or Airbnb’s first hosts. It was these initial users that used these apps and evangelized them to their friends. Unfortunately, once these products became widely successful, those early users were soon forgotten and not rewarded for their efforts and contributions.
At Origin, we care deeply about the people that are interacting with our platform and using our products in the early stages. This is why we created Origin Rewards, where anyone can have a stake in the future success of our network. Users will be able to earn OGN for promoting the health and growth of the network. You can do this by verifying your identity, selling goods and services, making purchases, and referring your friends. Earning OGN is a great reason for new users to use Origin to buy and sell on the new decentralized web.
How It Works
To begin, visit the Origin DApp to for Origin Rewards to enroll in this month’s campaign. You will need to use a Web3-enabled like . You will first sign a message saying you accept the terms and conditions of the program. Signing this message won’t cost you anything, but it helps to verify that you are the true owner of that . Next, you will see a list of different steps you can take to earn OGN. You can always return to this page to track your progress.
Once you earn OGN by verifying your phone number, building out your identity, or buying your first listing on Origin, you will see your earned in the progress meter.
Terms and Restrictions
Earned OGN will not be distributed immediately. Instead, OGN will be distributed after each campaign ends. As the Origin platform is still in beta, the will be locked and for the time being, can only be used on the Origin DApp. OGN will not be immediately transferrable, though we anticipate that they will be unlocked and transferrable in the future once we exit beta.
Origin Rewards is currently available in most countries in the world. One notable exception is the United States. We wish that everyone could participate, and we’re bummed that ongoing regulatory uncertainty prevents us from being able to include the place many on our team call home. Our lawyers tell us that we also have to exclude countries which are currently under U.S. sanctions like North Korea and Cuba. These restrictions go against our ideals and we’re truly sorry for anyone who is unable to participate as a result.
We reserve the right to withhold earned from users we believe are acting in fraudulent or malicious manners. Users that attempt to sign up multiple times or refer fake users will be removed from the rewards program.
What can I use OGN tokens for?
Origin (OGN) are ERC-20 that represent your stake in the overall network. To date, only one billion have been minted. rewards will be issued out of existing company reserves instead of being created through inflation. Our goal is to increase the number of participants in our network while demonstrating the true utility of the Origin .
You can earn Origin and redeem them for various benefits on the platform. Think of them a bit like airline or credit card points or in-game currency in mobile games.
Currently, can be used on our when creating a listing to boost listings. Boosting gives listings higher placement and visibility in search results, both on our DApp and in partner applications. Marketplace operators creators can earn OGN from boosted listings, giving them an incentive to help promote and feature certain items. Think of this as a commission for helping sellers get sales.
In the future, we anticipate several additional use cases for OGN which will further incentivize usage and growth of the Origin Platform.
