iLunch is Interactive Ontario's monthly lunch-and-learn series that provides skills development and networking to interactive digital media producers and those in other sectors wishing to learn more or collaborate with IDM creators. Each session includes lunch, a panel discussion, Q&A and networking time. iLunch – Blockchain and Copyright session details The interest in blockchain technology is growing, most notably due to the rise of cryptocurrencies. Blockchain technology is revolutionizing various fields, especially the media industry, with a whole new approach for copyrights. As always, Groupe Média TFO intends to be at the forefront of technology. Innovation has become the company's lingua franca; to remain competitive and relevant, adaptation, renewal and innovation are necessary. With blockchain, Groupe Média TFO saw an opportunity to transform the way the media industry works, especially in copyrights, to ensure that rightholders receive what they are owed. Blockchain is transparent, decentralized, intelligent and secure; it has all the requisite qualities to revolutionize the industry. TFO's blockchain prototype is currently in testing with major players in the audiovisual industry. It tests project creation in a realistic situation and allows all rightholders (creators, investors, producers, broadcasters…) to benefit from a fairer, more transparent and more secure tool than the "classic" audiovisual production system. Ulrich Dessouassi, Director – Digital Products for Groupe Média TFO will lead this in-depth discussion. Ulrich has an extensive background in architecting digital solutions, first tackling the problems of producing and distributing compelling educational media content, and now overseeing the development and launch of Groupe Média TFO’s blockchain prototype. Trained initially as a civil engineer, he found his true passion suited software engineering, which led him to pursuing a second degree from the École Polytechnique de Montréal.
