Preface With the rising trends of people around the world using blockchain for business applications and using cryptocurrency as a use case. It is apt and relevant to understand and know how blockchain and cryptocurrency works. IBS-01 Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Primer is a module under the Certificate/Diploma in Blockchain Technology offered by IBS, it provides very fundamental concepts of Blockchain & Cryptocurrency to the general public. This course has been supported and approved for funding by SkillsFuture Singapore and NTUC's e2i. Participants will go through 10 topics with 3 hands-on activities.Course Content 1. Create their own wallet and exchange account Send a transaction over the blockchain using Demo account Reinforce their learning through hands on activities, discussions and mini quiz Lecturer Mr Alvin Chua (Principal Lecturer) Mr Alvin Chua is a former civil servant with MINDEF for 10 years. He is the current President of Institute of Blockchain™ (Singapore), a blockchain & EdTech private school focusing on blockchain & cryptocurrency education as well as the current Founder & CEO of Resx Pte. Ltd, a corporate training firm. He is also a Certified Blockchain Expert (CBE) and Certified bitcoin Professional (CBP) with over eight years of investment experience and almost 2 years of experience with blockchain and cryptocurrency. He is a committee member of SPRING Singapore-IMDA's ISO & iTSC Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology Standards Technical Committee, an ordinary member of ACCESS – Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups, SIM and SIAS. He attained the IBFQ standard level 1 through SGX’s Certified Securities Professional Programme (CSPP) and is a holder of CFA Institute’s Claritas Investment Foundations Programme. Course Administrative Details Course participants are advised to be punctual for the course and try to arrive 15 minutes before the course for attendance taking. Couse attendance check-in starts 8.45am.Course intake: 15 to 30 (min 15 to start the course)Equipment: It is recommended for participants to bring laptop, smartphone or tablet as there will be hands-on activities.Participants are encouraged to bring their own jacket as A/C may be cold as well as writing materials for note taking. 2 event reminders will be sent via email to confirmed participants 1 week (first email) and 2 days (second email) before the event. Emergency/Security Support Trained first aider will be on site, nearest hospital for evacuation is NUH. Campus security will be on standby. Certification An Electronic Certificate of Completion will be issued on NEM Blockchain to participants whom achieved at least 75% attendance, pass the Final Quiz with score of 50% and above and completed the end of course survey, Please indicate the correct name during registration for certificate issuing. The Institute is not responsible for any wrong name indicated and may refuse to issue a subsequent certificate. Assessment Participants will be taking a 30 questions quiz (20 MCQ and 10 True/False questions). For results scored 49% and below, participants may have up to ONE attempt to re-take the assessment at no additional cost. In the event, the participant fails again, he/she will need to repeat the respective module Course Funding/Subsidy SkillsFuture Singapore SubsidyAll Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website www.skillsfuture.sg/credit to choose from the courses available on the SkillsFuture Credit course directory.This course has been approved by SkillsFuture Singapore and participants can use their SFC for the course. No upfront payment is required for SkillsFuture. The course fees are offset in full using the individual’s SFC and there are no other SSG subsidies applicable. Additional SF Note: Please choose "Other Payment Option" and select "Send Invoice" (Do not pay by PayPal). There is no need for upfront payment on participant's part as the payment will be paid by SSG-WSG to Training Provider 7 to 10 working days after course date. The issued event ticket must be uploaded in SkillsFuture claim system with an approved Claim ID status. Failure to perform this step will render your order cancelled. Only internet fund transfer, PayPal or Cryptocurrency: bitcoin, Ethereum, NEO, XEM and Litecoin over-the-counter payment mode is accepted for a walk-in participant. Strictly no cash payment. Course Cancellation/Withdrawal/Postponement Policy CancellationThis course is subjected to a minimum number of 15 participants for commencement. If the minimum number is not met, the course will be cancelled. For cancellation, a FULL refund will be initiated to course participants if payment has been made. If a claim/subsidy has been submitted, please cancel manually at the respective online claim portal. WithdrawalWithdrawal from a course must be made at least 7 working days before the course commencement date to receive partial refund. PostponementPostponement from a course must be made at least 7 working days before the course commencement date. Postponement is only allowed ONCE per module. Re-sitIf participants are missed the course halfway or need to go off early. They can opt to re-sit the next course as a refresher at no additional charges, subject to availability and terms & conditions. Course participants may postpone to the next available course only ONCE. Subsequent postponement is deemed as withdrawal of course with no refund given. No Show Course participants whom did not turn up on course date without any reason or notification will be considered as no show. No show with valid reasons such as medical or urgent travel plans are to submit documents to admin@ibs.edu.sg to qualify for postponement. Refund Policy All withdrawal regardless of notice period will be subjected to a 20% admin fees,No refund will be given for withdrawal received less than 7 days prior to the course commencement date and no-show cases.
