FAN Token World Tour Continues

Fcfl update: this week in fan token 5/8/2018

Last week, Sohrob headed to Singapore for the World Digital Assets Summit – looking sharp on his panel!

Patrick, Jen and Ray headed to the East Coast where they hit New York (Next Gen Arena and Sports Tank) and Boston (Starting Blocks: Using Blockchain in Sports – looking good on their panel).

And Grant hit the Crypto Invest Summit in LA and participated on a panel at 3Q Digital in Mountain View.

As we reported last week, the team did a cracker jack job in NYC, winning Next Gen Arena, earning a spot to pitch at Sports Tank in front of 600 sports industry execs.

Speaking of cracker jacks, our “jack” of all trades, Cody, took his “crack” at the event circuit this past week as well, exhibiting at BlockTrain: The Global Blockchain Technology Expo.

This week Grant and Patrick head to the Cayman Islands!?!? Nope, they will not be sipping cocktails on the beach. Instead, they will be participating in the Sweet Sixteen at the World Tokenomic Forum. FAN Token was one of sixteen contestants chosen from more than 130 applicants to take part in a bracket-style showdown to determine the top token offering at the Forum: the Sandcastle Sweet Sixteen Challenge!  Meantime, Sohrob will take his turn in New York, presenting at the Proskauer | UBS 3rd Annual TMT Summit.

As Seen on the FAN Token Blog

This week, FCFL Head of Football Experience, Jason Chilton, turns his thoughts from creating new sports leagues on the Blockchain to applying FAN Token within an existing league eco-system, looking into the future to a hypothetical Major League Soccer All Star experience powered by FAN Token.

Infographic: Can We Make Sense of Pro Football and Social Media?

This week’s Infographic comes to you courtesy of data from MVPIndex, the world’s leading athlete social media measurement firm.  They calculate Reach, Engagement and Conversation scores for athletes on social media, providing a valuable tool for brands as they figure out the best ways to harness the power of sports stars’ social media to spread their message. For players with the largest and most impactful social media followings, there was less correlation with salary or their team’s record and more correlation with a strong social brand across multiple channels (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). The key takeaway here is that athletes who devote the time and effort to creating a broad-based social media presence are the ones who see the biggest impact – just like on the field, hustle matters!

Notable News

The sports/blockchain convergence continues!  China’s Sun Seven Stars Investment Group recently announced that former NBA star Stephon Marbury will chair their new sports blockchain group.  Marbury finished up his professional basketball career as a three-time China Basketball Association champion, and he’ll use his local star power while directing and planning operations for the group’s athletic products, content and branding blockchain services.  It’s one more data point that sports and blockchain are a match made in heaven – or at least in the Stars!

New Zealand was the source of a cool bit of news that combines uniform technology and socially-oriented thinking. The storied New Zealand national rugby club, the All Blacks, sported a new jersey with stretchable fabric that reveals a rainbow image when stretched. The jersey honors the LGBTI community as part of the club’s Diversity Is Strength campaign.

One of the coolest convergences between traditional sports and eSports, the NBA2K League, kicked off its inaugural season last week.  The article highlights the highs (great commentary, strong engagement and player cameras) and lows (some glitchy tech moments and a lack of highlight-worthy plays) of the league’s debut.  Team-oriented sports games are an exciting expansion for the concept of eSports, and we’re looking forward to watching the 2K league evolve and continue to push the boundaries of fan engagement.

We Want Your Input!

People frequently ask us: do you really want fan input on how to run the league? Our answer is an unequivocal: YES! Not only will fans be driving all football-related decisions once the games are being played on the field, but we want fans to play an integral role in how we structure our league operations. The main channel for such communication has been and will continue to be our Telegram channel, where you can chat directly with all of our team members and co-founders at nearly any hour of the day. We have been discussing a range of topics, from Token structure to fan engagement to simply sharing thoughts on the NFL playoffs and college bowl games. We would love your input as well!
