It is everybody’s favorite time of the bitcoin [BTC] year. It is HARD FORK TIME. Ethereum is going to be hard forking as part of a planned network upgrade. The first part of the Metropolis development milestone, Byzantium, is set to go live at block number 4,370,000 which is going to happen on October 17th.
Byzantium is bringing with it some new toys for smart contract developers in the form of four new EVM Opcodes and four new native contracts. As well as some modifications to the difficulty adjustment algorithm and transaction receipt data.
