Enjin is attending the GDC again this year, to showcase what they’ve achieved, and again to excite the audience with their idea of an Enjin future. The reason I bring this up, is that I’m certain we will see some QR codes floating around, for people to scan and get some sweet gaming items beamed straight into their phone via the Enjin SmartWallet.
In case you’re asking yourself ‘Scanning a QR code huh?’ then this article will get you up to speed.
Team Enjin have done it again and this new development, , is another game changer for easy mass of games. You can now “beam” a gaming item that is built on top of the ERC-1155, straight into your from a specially developed QR code. That’s right, all you need to do now, is scan a QR code, and you can have a based gaming collectible sent instantly to your phone. Even if you don’t have an Enjin Wallet, you can use a generic scanner, and it will automatically download the , as it is built straight into the QR code.
QR codes have been around for a while now, but for those that don’t know how they function, basically it is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, which URLs or other information for reading by the camera on your smartphone. Enjin have built this scanner straight into their Enjin Wallet, so you don’t even need a scanner, your does it all for you.
Open your , click on the QR scanning feature, scan the applicable QR code and follow the prompts. It asks for your phone number so it can send you a unique code via SMS, which stops multiple uses, and beamo, you’ll have your new gaming item in no time. I’ve tested it personally, and so have hundreds, maybe thousands of others, and it works a dream.
These QR codes will be implemented by game developers utilising the Enjin Ecosystem via their Early Adopter initiative, but to get things started, Enjin along with other Enjin supporters, have generously been beaming QR codes with limited edition ENJ backed collectibles already. It’s a lottery system, but it’s free to try, and you can potentially win an Enjin collectible with up to 1000 ENJ base value.
You can see them pop up from time to time in the and other places within the Enjin multiverse.
This new feature really breaks down the barrier for the mainstream audience to easily enter the new world of digital goods. Not only that, it can also beam to your any amount of ERC20 . QR codes can literally now contain real world valuable assets. The possibilities are tremendous and only limited by the imagination of game developers. It brings us a whole new level in how our favourite games can connect with us.
Picture this, there’s a going for say , they have a new super rare Ooogie that is only available on the QR code, and the only way to obtain it, is to find the QR code. Ready set go! Where is it? Nobody knows, but clues can be given. The lucky person who finds the QR sticker in real life, scans it, and the item is beamed directly into their to use in the game. How many gaming items are stored in the QR code you may ask? Well that’s up to the developer, the ERC-1155 allows for any amount. Simple, and that’s just one idea I thought of whilst typing this article. Imagine what could be done with a little more thought than seconds.
I believe that this new feature in the hands of creative game developers, will throw the doors wide open for new players to enter the gaming space. But most importantly we think it will be fun and extremely interactive. I could go on and on about this, but I won’t bore you with my words. Check out the video below from Enjin, which gives you an expert’s guide on how this all works.
