Dolomite Bi-Weekly Update | 5/10/2019 – Dolomite –

The past two weeks were spent predominantly on the Loopring v2.0 update, which we made significant progress on. Our hope is to have an MVP of it prepared by the time of the next bi-weekly update or slightly after it. Otherwise, we have been more thoroughly documenting the APIs for public consumption, and they can be seen at https://docs.dolomite.io. We’re iterating on them quickly! Let us know what you think we’ll be sure to clarify points of confusion on them as well as improve them.

We also had the opportunity to attend the #Defi for Crypto Traders event last Thursday in NYC. We’ll be attending similar events this upcoming week, in honor of Blockchain Week in NYC. Come hangout with us at ETH NY!

Backend

Overall Backend

  • Fixed the block explorer to deal with one last bug, which lingered from its initial creation.

Exchange API

  • Worked on tidying up retrieving Wyre transfer previews (deposit/withdraw), transfers (deposit) and transfer histories.
  • Started implementing a couple metric-related trackers. So far, the database querying, models creation, and query testing against indices for performance issues are done. We’re starting off with customer lifetime trade amounts. This will pave the way for being able to create our referral program and running trading competitions.
  • Finished a huge amount of the Exchange API’s documentation using Swagger. This allows us to programmatically document endpoints, resulting in our documentation (almost) never being out of date.
  • Finished upgrading the order schema to match v2.
  • Upgraded the create order route to deal with a couple new constraints, check v2 signatures, and start matching v2 orders.
  • Created an order preparation route, which allows API users to see how the order hash is computed, see example signatures, download code snippets (in three different languages) that contain the code necessary to compute a signature, and ultimately test order submission without actually creating an order.
  • Deployed a newer version of the API docs which contains the most updated routes & information. Note, these are still a work-in-progress with regards to the descriptions of the routes & fields still being added.
  • Wiped the order books and disabled trading in preparation for the v2 upgrade.
  • Added hosting for the new API docs to a new subdomain — they can be found at https://docs.dolomite.io.
  • Fixed the trading view chart to use last_price_traded as the pricing mechanism for fiat/crypto pricing (as opposed to mid-market price).
  • Upgraded the Exchange API to point to the LRC v2 token instead of v1.

Slate API

  • Fixed the Ethereum balances manager to deal with re-organizations as well.
  • Added a mechanism to created “versioned” tokens. This allows Slate to see and use the newer version of a token, when a token upgrade occurs. There’s still a couple lingering bugs where holdings and cumulative portfolio value are being misreported because of both more than one version of a token being held in a wallet (IE LRC v1 and LRC v2).
  • Fixed the Ethereum Balances server to properly track, segregate, and report versioned tokens.
  • Upgraded the Slate API to track LRC 2.0. This is in response to Loopring upgrading their token. More information on it can be found here. There is still a lingering bug of

Frontend

Landing Page, Support Site, and Docs

  • Made some adjustments to the docs site. Removed useless code, cleaned up a couple things that were not written well, and added helper scripts to make future updates and tweaks much quicker.
  • Styled the docs more to better fit Dolomite’s theme.
  • Added utility code to customize how websocket routes are displayed.

Slate Management Portal

  • Fixed a minor bug with logging out not redirecting properly.
  • Continued working through a couple issues relating to account linking.

Dolomite Web Application

  • Started creating a simplified portal for placing market orders on Dolomite. This is for individuals who don’t care for trading via trading terminal and would rather effectively swap tokens at market price.
  • Added a token details window on the exchange side of the app that can be reached by clicking a token’s ticker. This allows you to see information about the assets being traded on Dolomite, the token’s weighted-average global price, and other cool information.
  • Added a new error popup for when a user’s email is invalid or can’t be verified.
  • Moved the USD/fiat gateway to its own button on the navigation bar.
  • Redesigned the bottom-left toolbar to have words, so it is more descriptive.
  • Improved the efficiency of the order books a lot by batching UI updates and avoiding usage of redux.
  • Added order book animations for when depths are added, changed and/or removed.
  • Created stress tests for checking how the order books respond (visually) to extremely fast movements and changes.
  • Added an indicator that marks the location of your open orders on the order books.

Marketing and Business Development

  • Attended the #Defi for Crypto Traders event in NYC last Thursday, 5/9/2019. We had the pleasure of spending time with a number of awesome people in the Ethereum and DeFi landscape!
  • Almost finished a large number of tutorial videos that walkthrough the features of the platform. These will be linked on our support page once they’re finished.

Concluding Thoughts

With the v2.0 upgrade nearing completion, we have a number of important announcements surrounding our larger push of Dolomite to the public. After 2.0 stabilizes, we’ll remove the “beta” label from Dolomite and will push hard driving liquidity as well as further improvements to the system. We’re going to be accommodating this push with quality content, tutorials, videos, and more, which will properly inform (new) users of the value that Dolomite offers!

As always, be sure to follow us on your other favorite social media sites to stay up to date with all things Dolomite!
