-Compromised exchange, Bancor Network, has resumed operations reaching a trading volume of $2.5 million in the past 24 hours.
-Still, this week’s Bancor hack has brought scrutiny towards digital currency exchanges that identify themselves as decentralized. Litecoin creator Charlie Lee commented “An exchange is not decentralized if it can lose customer funds OR if it can freeze customer funds. Bancor can do BOTH. It’s a false sense of decentralization.”
-Global analyst firm, Research Markets, estimates blockchain technology in the telecom sector will reach one billion dollars by 2023, eclipsing the $46 million role blockchain played in in 2018.
– South Korean government-funded organization, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), has submitted for a blockchain-related patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The blockchain system would record the financial transaction history of public organizations.
