Build your future DApps on ThunderCore: FoB Hackathon finale

The Concept

Future of Blockchain is a 3-month hackathon to build ideas involving blockchain. It is aimed at researchers, students and alumni from the leading universities in the UK like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, KCL and Queen Mary’s.

Participants could choose between a Partner Challenge or doing their own idea (Creator Challenge).

For the Partner Challenge, participants could build on one of 8 sponsor platforms: Gnosis, Kyber, Liquidity Network, MakerDao, Nucypher, Santiment, Zilliqa and ThunderCore.

By the end of the competition, the Future of Blockchain received submissions from 160 teams and over 600 students participant, and only 12 were selected to enter the finale pitch event. ThunderCore was the most well-represented sponsor of the finale event, and most widely chosen by the participants: with 3 teams out of the 12 finalists building their demo/prototype/MVP on ThunderCore!

Built by a team of two from Cambridge, ParityGame is a game studio and platform for buying NFT accessory items for games. ParityGames is using ThunderCore as the blockchain infrastructure layer to provide game users with a more efficient, fair, and transparent game asset trading experience.

Team: Fredrik Liu [PhD, Theoretical Physics, Cambridge], Jimin Li [Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge]

DConsent

We are delighted that the DConsent team liked this gift from us!

Team: Paolo Polzella [Medical Doctor, DPhil Graduate, Clinical Medicine and Academic Clinical Fellow in Haematology, Oxford], Cristiano Padovani [MBA, Oxford and PhD, Materials, Birmingham], Cristian Chirivi [Full Stack Developer], Francesco Polzella [Senior Software Engineer]

The Results

The winner of the night was a team of four from Imperial offering on-chain derivatives for individuals to hedge their digital assets to eliminate counterparty risk. However, we were so impressed by the excellence of the ideas and the quality of the prototypes from the 3 teams that built on ThunderCore that we decided to award each of the 3 teams with £2,000 prize!

We will continue supporting community projects that leverage the benefits of ThunderCore’s high-performance, scalable public blockchain platform. If you have great ideas and even prototypes available, do reach out to us and we would love to see how we can help that grow big!
