Over two days, leaders from Engie Lab Crigen, Entra, IOTA Foundation, NTNU, POWEL, Trianel, Trondheim municipality, TrønderEnergi and others gathered in Trondheim to explore new energy solutions and business models around IOTA’s distributed ledger technology (DLT), The Tangle, and how it can make cities smarter, more connected, and greener – with Brattørkaia as a testbed pilot.

Entras Powerhouse Brattørkaia is the world’s northernmost energy-positive building, where the focus is designing and operating a smart commercial building of the future that are green, good for tenants, and have a strong business case. The Powerhouse concept is based on that an energy-positive building that in the course of a 60-year period generates more renewable energy than the total amount of energy that would be required to sustain daily operations and to build, produce materials and demolish the building.

These buildings will be key in reducing energy consumption in the world, and greenhouse gas emissions. Today, office buildings account for 40% of the world’s total energy consumption. By transforming office buildings from an energy waste, to a producer of renewable energy, they would also be able to provide energy to neighboring structures.

Wilfried Pimenta, Business Development Director at IOTA Foundation saw a lot of promise from the workshop in co-creating new Internet-of-Things (IoT) solutions and leveraging Brattørkaia as a testbed for development. According to him, “the group looked at how to leverage the IOTA Tangle to develop concepts that will enable a common energy market in Trondheim supported by a connected community. These solutions can be used not only within Trondheim but can be implemented across other regions – and we are excited to bring these ideas to life at Brattørkaia in the coming months.

“There are two issues we are particularly excited about,” says Åse Lunde, Director of Digitalization and Business Development. “When the new Powerhouse is completed on Brattørkaia, it will make more power than it uses. One theme is how that power can best be used by neighbors and the other is how to pay for it. In addition, when buildings like Powerhouse are filled with innovative technology and become more connected to the network, one needs to be able to share this information safely and securely. In the workshop, participants discussed how to use distributed ledger technology like IOTA to do just that,” Lunde continued.

The workshop was organized by Entra together with IOTA Foundation and the EU-funded CityxChange project,

DASH and Litecoin Analysis December 11, 2017

DASH/USD

DASH continues to be very volatile, and at one point tested the $780 level, before dropping $100. Because of this, it is obvious to me that we still are trying to build a bit of a base, perhaps centered around the $650 level. Longer-term, I do think that the buyers continue to win the day, but be very cautious and add to your position slowly.

LTC/USD

Litecoin continues to see buyers during the Friday session, as we are reaching towards the vital $105 level. Move above there continues the longer-term uptrend, perhaps sending the market to the next psychologically important figure, $110. In the meantime, it looks as if the vital $90 level did offer enough support to keep the buyers happy. I like buying dips, and building a larger position for a longer-term run.
