Announcing the second edition of the B9lab Ethereum Community Blockstars Programme

On the 31st of January 2019, we kicked off the first edition of the Community Blockstars Programme at GoerliCon in Berlin, in partnership with the Department of Decentralization. Within 24 hours, we had 500 signups. Over the course of the selection period, more than 1,000 highly motivated people signed up to take the screening test and win the opportunity to take our Ethereum developer certification course for free.

The community pitched in enthusiastically, with the Department of Decentralization especially supporting us every step of the way, right from the start. Other partners have been equally excited by our idea, with Gnosis, iExec, MEW, Pegasys, Quorum, and Opera committing to the programme in terms of sponsorship.

With the first edition of the Community Blockstars Programme drawing to a close, and our belief in the supportiveness in the community firmly upheld by the overwhelmingly positive response to the first edition, all of us at B9lab are excited to announce the second edition of the Ethereum Community Blockstars Programme.

The second edition of the Ethereum Community Blockstars Programme will start today (22 May 2019). The screening period lasts until the 5th of June 2019, and interested participants can sign up for the screening test on the Blockstars website. After the selected participants are notified, the Ethereum developer course starts on the 10th of June 2019.

For the 9-week in-depth Ethereum developer course, this time we will be selecting up to 100 developers. Anyone can apply and attempt the screening test. We will be selecting the best applicants and invite them to our mentored online course and chat rooms. Over the next 9 weeks students will follow the material and work on coding exercises. As always, our mentors will be on hand to answer questions and help troubleshoot.

The 9-week program culminates in a 4-week exam period. For the certification exam learners will have to answer architectural and technical questions as well as build a working, deployed dApp. We will grade submissions within 4 weeks after the last submission and contact all those certified. Students will be able to agree to submit their information and certificate to a hiring pool. Full details about the programme are here.

As with the first edition, this is a community project. B9lab is sponsoring 50% of the seats on the program and is working with the Ethereum community to fund the other half. If you’d like to become an official partner and interact with students and find the students who are looking for a job, get in touch with us at blockstars@b9lab.com.

This Ethereum Community Blockstars Programme is one more step in our mission to help create a strong, diverse, engaged and open community to help solidify the future of the ecosystem. If you’re participating, good luck and hopefully, see you on the other side!
