Blockchain Game Alliance launches its first technical working group today, April 19th

We’re happy to announce the launch of our first technical working group.

It will focus on Blockchain Asset Metadata Standardization with a proposal named Blockchain Bean Assets (BBA), initiated by B2Expand.

The technical working group will be led by Manon Burgel, BGA president.

What is a BGA technical working group?

  • It is committed to delivering valuable and actionable content such as standards recommendations, tutorials, and thought leadership in specific technical areas.
  • It is accessible to all members of the Blockchain Game Alliance who possess the relevant expertise.
  • Each working group is organized through the BGA and led by an elected board member.

It is to be noted that Blockchain Bean Assets will be the primary focus as a starting point to talk about metadata standardization. However, other technical topics may be covered simultaneously or after this one is considered complete; we welcome all proposals for topics and will switch focus accordingly to the working group members interests and advancements on these topics.

Blockchain Bean Assets proposal

In the blockchain gaming space, we are advocates of the “true ownership”, meaning users have absolute control over their assets. However, in most implementations, the asset is only partially stored on the blockchain. Users only have a contract proving their ownership. It means images and most other metadata corresponding to that asset is usually stored in a centralized server, queried each time the owner calls on it.

The Blockchain Bean Asset standard proposal provides a simple and secure way to share asset content where elements aren’t stored on the blockchain (e.g. images). It’s designed to be independent from how the data is stored and from the blockchain used.

Join the working group

Any Blockchain Game Alliance member (see registration link here) can apply to this working group.

Applications will be reviewed by the BGA’s board and settled within 15 days. To be considered, applicants will need to demonstrate expertise in the game or blockchain industry. They will be contributing in their personal capacity and they are expected to act independently and not promote specific industry or other interests.

Registrations are managed via this form.
