I think this comes from an old race car track where they went backwards in some way. I am not sure but any help would be appreciated. =)
Check measurements with something in your closet by laying it on the bed and measuring it. Vintage sizes vary and are usually not true to size. Overall length is from top of collar to the end of the hem. Pit to pit is from the under-seam to the other under-seam across the chest.
