A&Z #314 – Atlas vs ACME Oyster House Club Challenge Record in Covington, Louisiana!! (2015 Eastern Tour – Day #24 / Challenge #27)
Hey everybody! Day #24 of my 2015 Eastern USA & Canada Tour and for this food challenge I’m at Acme Oyster House in Covington, Louisiana which has multiple locations around the area. I’ll be taking on their 15 Dozen Oyster Club Challenge and attempt to set a new “house record.”
ACME Oyster House’s 15 Dozen Oyster Club Challenge ($ expensive $):
To win the basic 15 Dozen ACME Oyster Club Challenge, you must finish 15 dozen oysters in less than 1 hour. You must use a fork and you may not use your hands. If you can do that, you get all the oysters half price which are around $14 per dozen (price varies depending on the location). You also win a free t-shirt or hat and your name gets listed on the particular location’s Oyster Club Wall Of Fame Plaque. If you set a new house record though at your particular location (each location’s record is different), you get all the oysters you finish free!! You have to beat the current record by a full dozen though. Regardless of whether you win or lose, there is an 18% required “tip” which goes to the oyster shuckers and your waiter/waitress, so be sure to factor that into your decision before attempting it. This is not an inexpensive challenge to attempt, even if you plan on setting a new record at the chosen location, since the “tip” will likely be over $50 (mine was $56 for 20 dozen).
