A Gamer’s Paradise! Time spent playing video games can now be converted into cash.

Remember Ready Player One? Yeah… here’s the real-life version.
Sit back, relax, and allow your mind to get blown for a moment.

Intro

The spaceship on the picture is from a game called Alterverse. This spaceship is one of only 2,000 in existence, and on March 11, 2019 one of them was sold on a player-to-player trading platform for $300.

This particular spaceship also functions as a game server which lets the owner create their own business or attraction within the game universe — a game within a game!

Imagine running your own virtual store inside of a game where every item can be traded for real money — inside or outside of the game.

That’s where we are right now. And yes, this game supports VR. 👓

I can already hear the questions boiling in your head, so hop in our Telegram channel for absolute beginners to join the discussion and ask the community!

There are dragons, too.

This little cutie from the Pokémon-esque War of Crypto is the most expensive item ever bought on the platform and netted the seller a whopping $7,126.

This is possible thanks to blockchain technology (the thing that makes the cryptocurrencybitcoin” work) as well as the hard work from EnjinCoin.io to harness this technology, making it easier than ever for developers to attach a monetary value to digital items.

This is not done with bitcoin, however, but with their own currency called Enjin Coin, or “ENJ” for short.

The economy

To make a comparison to a familiar game, let’s take a look at World of Warcraft’s economy. The auction house in WoW is, like in most other games, just an imitation of a real marketplace.

The gold coins only drop from in-game creatures and can only be exchanged for other in-game items or traded between players on the same server.

Well, the real-world version is a bit less pretty to look at, but it’s certainly several times more interesting!

Here, any in-game asset from any game built on Enjin can be sold, bought, or even traded for other items — just like on the WoW auction house… but with real money.

And by “real” I mean that you can literally purchase services and products outside of the game with the coins you loot from your enemies:

Here’s the ENJ gift card shop mentioned in the video:

The plot thickens

To the right: one of the rarest and most sought after World of Warcraft swords in the past 13 years. It cannot be traded or sold in any way, shape or form and it is only usabale in World of Warcraft.
– Owned by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. They can close your account and delete your items without your consent.

To the left: an Epochrome Sword sold on auction from one player to another for $11 on the the 24th of March, 2019. The owner will be able to use the this very sword in multiple games across what’s called the Multiverse. Yes, you read that right! The SAME game asset can be used in multiple games!
– Owned by YOU! You own your items, and neither the game nor Enjin can close your account or delete your items.

To this day, after 13 years, some dedicated WoW players are still trying to get their hands on Thunderfury with no luck.
Imagine what it would mean for gamers to acquire such a rare and powerful weapon as Thunderfury AND being able to actually sell it for cash.
It would probably have beat the $7,126 War of Crypto dragon tenfold.

Here’s how the Epochrome sword will look in Alterverse. Each Multiverse game will implement its own artwork for the sword, but if you own it in one game you will own it in all the others as well.

Here’s a full list of the items that can be used across multiple games.

If you’re a passionate gamer and have dreamt of this, I want you to open Facebook and Twitter RIGHT NOW and share this article, because this dream is now reality!

The potential

With Enjin Coin’s platform game developers can create provably scarce items like legendary weapons and armor, but it doesn’t just stop there.

Enjin’s Mintshop has been used to create everything from artwork and interviews to gift cards and membership certificates, often called Founder’s Tokens, that continually give the owner exclusive lootdrops directly to their wallet (setup guide at end of article).

Developers can then imbue these tokens with customized features like ENJ backing per item*, melt fee percentage, item categories, maximum supply, supply type, transfer fee, bound/transferable, and more.

ENJ backing, melt fees, and melting refer to the “ENJ value” as seen in the previous left and right pictures.👆

The ENJ value is the amount of ENJ tokens the owner will get should they choose to melt the item, thereby destroying it. For reference, 1 ENJ is worth $0.15 as of today.
(Don’t be a melter btw😫 #meltismurder)

THE PLOT THICKENS YET AGAIN.

Do you like free stuff? The Enjin Coin ecosystem has plenty to offer!

Most games on the platform — of which there seems to be a new one almost every week now — often give away items to spread awareness of their brands.

These giveaways sometimes come in the form of QR codes that you can scan with your wallet, an email signup, or some other minor tasks.

In fact I run an entire dedicated to Telegram channel to keeping track of all these giveaways. Just remember to be nice and show the games some love as well when you get free stuff! 😍

Wallet Setup Guide

The Enjin Crypto Wallet is arguably the most secure and easy-to-use phone wallet on the market while also being one of the most versatile. It’s becoming so mainstream that even Samsung has partnered with Enjin to implement the wallet on the new Galaxy S10 phone.

A crypto wallet is not like a normal app like Google Pay or PayPal. Traditional currencies are stored on your account by banks, which means you can always get help from your bank if your funds get stolen or you’re locked out of your account.

This is not the case with crypto wallets!

Here, your account is tied to what’s know as a Private Key — a unique string of numbers and letters — which is encrypted with a password.
No one, not even you, can access your wallet without the password or backup, neither can Enjin. Enjin has no access to your wallet or its contents.

This means that if you lose your password and backup you’re on your own. No support. Nada. Learn more about blockchain and how it works in this video.

But don’t let the new tech scare you. Installing and backing up your wallet is pretty easy.

Let’s set it up!

Go to www.enjinwallet.io to get the app for Android or iOS.

Open the app and click create wallet.

(The text and images are in the wrong order on mobile. Sorry about that! Blame Medium.com😆)

Accept the terms…

And choose a strong password.
I recommend a long phrase that is still easy for you to remember and type.

Your password is also used to confirm outgoing transactions.

Choose how many sub-wallets (also called addresses or public keys) to add to your main wallet.

In the crypto world, many cryptocurrencies operate on their own network/blockchain.

Bitcoin, for example, operates on its own blockchain which means you cannot send anything other than Bitcoin to your Bitcoin address. Well… you can, but it will be lost forever.

Enjin Coin is built on top of Ethereum, so on this app both your ENJ and ETH wallets share the same address.

Enjin Coin, Bitcoin, and Ether will cover you in 99% of cases, but you can always add more later on.

Hit Create Wallet.

This is your new wallet
Let’s secure it.

Hit BACKUP and type your password.

The wallet will show you a total of 12 random words that you have to write down (app won’t let me take a screenshot of this).

These 12 words are called a “seed phrase” and serve as a kind of unikey — anyone with these access to your 12 words can access your wallet from their own device.

I recommend writing them down on 2 pieces of paper — one that you keep close by and one that you keep somewhere hidden just in case your house burns down…

If you’re feeling extra hardcore you can even engrave them into a piece of metal and bury it in your garden. 🔐🔐🔐
Click on ETH.

Here’s what an ETH wallet with ingoing and outgoing transactions looks like.

The purple $ value is how much 1 ETH costs and the black $ value is how much you’ve got in your account.

Unlike traditional currency it’s quite possible to send 0.123456 of a cryptocurrency, as long as you have enough of it left to pay for the transaction fee.

The transaction fee (called gas) will vary from hour to hour and day to day — it’s not paid to ethereum.org, but instead to the thousands of computers that make up the decentralized network and run 24/7 to confirm new transactions.

Generally, the fees increase when there are more pending transactions than there is computational power to confirm them.

Press Receive in the top bar.

This is your address, or “addy” for short. The QR code contains this unique string as well which is handy if you trade with people face-to-face. They can simply scan this code to send you ether.

Note: Your ETH address is the same as your ENJ address because ENJ is built on top of Ethereum. That’s why you must also pay gas with ether when sending ENJ.

If you don’t know how to buy ether in the first place or if you need help with anything else, please head over to my Telegram support group and ping me or one of our admins: @andreashauser, @O00ops, @rafaelrxn.

Now go back and hit Send.

Copy/paste the receiver’s address into the first field.

Write the amount you wish to transfer.

Adjust the Sending Fee slider to your preferences.

As of today the transaction speed is at around 10–20 seconds on the slowest setting. However, during peak hours or seasons it might take 10–20 minutes and sometimes more than an hour to send.

Why?
All transactions are put into a queue for the decentralized network to confirm. Paying a higher fee to these computers lets them know that you are in a hurry and that they should prioritise your transaction over others’.

Double check that the address is correct.

You can do this easily by looking at the first 3 and last 3 digits— FEb & d7A.

“0x” is default for every Ethereum address.

Press Send Now when ready and type your password.

You can now see that your transaction, or TX, is pending.

If you click on it you will also be able to see which address it was sent from and to.

The receiver can see exactly the same information as well — and so can anyone else for that matter.

Try heading over to https://ethplorer.io and search for your own address, or the one I used here: 0xFEbf0995A26e6faC57C36E2FD63c23Cc251c0d7A

You’ll be able to see anything that’s ever been sent to and from this address, as well as its full portfolio of Ethereum-based tokens (called ERC-20 tokens).

Now go back to the home screen and click the menu in the upper left corner.

Then go to COLLECTIBLES.

Here you’ll be able to see all of your in-game items and other things like artwork, gift cards, certificates, and so on.

It will of course be empty until you receive your first collectibles.

The “1 ENJ,” “2 ENJ,” and “15 ENJ” are the total ENJ values of items in that folder. More on that later.

Let’s look at Changelly Collectibles.

Here we have a Major Tom from the recent Changelly + Enjin partnership giveaway.

MELT refers to the ENJ value (not the actual trading value). Clicking MELT will destroy the asset and give you the ENJ value in your ENJ instead. Be VERY careful with this! Some items are super rare.

At the bottom you’ll notice that there are a few extra fields. These are different from asset to asset.

  • ENJ value of 1
The total ENJ (melt) value of all my Major Toms.
  • ENJ per item: 1
I only have one Major Tom.
  • Transfer fee type: None
Developers can set a TX fee so that they automatically receive whatever the fee is every time the asset changes hands.
  • Supply model: Collapsing
The total supply can never be re-created.
There are two additional supply models:
    – Fixed: Copies of this item can be re-created up to the total supply figure. Handy if the developer wants to avoid accidental melting of super rare items.
    – Infinite: Infinite copies of this item can be created.
  • Total supply: 9989
Because it is not Infinite, there can only by 9989 copies of this item.
  • Circulating supply: 1639
How many items that are remaining (i.e. not still in the developer’s wallet and not melted).
  • Token ID: 700000000000039c
Searching for this ID on enj1155.com will show you the item’s full details.

Sending collectibles functions in the same way as sending ether or Enjin Coin.

Now go back to the main menu and hit EXCHANGE.

This feature is available due to the Changelly partnership mentioned before.

Changelly is an aggregation trading platform that works similarly to SkyScanner.net — it takes the cheapest conversion rates from several exchanges and lets you choose which one to use.

Choose the currency to convert from and to, then type in the amount.

Remember to leave a nominal amount to pay for gas fees.
As of today this fee is about 0.0005 ETH, or 0.05 USD.

Now scroll down in the app and choose the best exchange rate.

Checking this manually would be a real pain as these rates change constantly, so Changelly’s service is highly appreciated!

Click Convert with ….

Bam! You now have some ENJ to use in all upcoming games on Enjin’s platform. 🙂

If you have any further questions we welcome you in our small but growing community of Multiverse explorers! 😁

See you in there. 😎
